Our Nappies

Nappies have come a long way since terry nappies. Not a pin in sight!!
 

We use a 2 piece, pre-fold system. This is a multilayered square of cotton that is folded. This is placed inside a shaped, breathable, waterproof outer wrap that is fastened using Velcro tabs on either side. (Much like the dreaded disposables!)

Wraps are used for more than one nappy change and are simple to launder at home following manufacturer’s instructions.
 

· The nappy comes in five sizes and is a smooth rectangle of layered cotton called a pre-fold. This is folded into a simple long pad and laid into an opened out equivalent of plastic pants called a "wrap". Wraps are made of soft breathable, polyester with a waterproof inner and "Velcro" closing. Up to five different sizes are available ranging from new-born to toddler.

· A biodegradable paper liner is laid on top of the pre-fold nappy. The cotton nappy can then be put on just like a disposable, 'Velcro-ing' across the tummy area.

When soiled or wet, the liner goes down the toilet & the pre-fold nappy is placed in a lined bin provided by the service.

The wrap if damp is left to air-dry

If a nappy has been soiled then the wrap usually does get slightly dirty but cleaning it is simply a matter of putting it in the washing machine with the family wash. It's so easy!
